Sally Loco

Heyyy!

I'm Sally Loco. You may know me as the crazy frontwoman for The Pixel Bullies latest app 'Psycho Loco'. I'm just here, doing my bit - ranting and raving. Today I thought I would opt for a slightly less controversial blog content - beauty!

What interest does Sally Loco have in beauty, I hear you exclaim? Quite frankly - not alot. However, I did come across a rather interesting survey which amused me, and I would like to share it with you here.

LOST without your lippy? Mad without your mascara? Frantic without your foundation? Join the cosmetic’s crew!

The average British woman carries £57 worth of cosmetics, according to a recent survey. With the fresh craze of mammoth handbags, surely fashion is just encouraging us?

Makeup has fast become our masks, worn during every waking hour of the day. The survey, proposed by esteemed cosmetics firm Avon, reveals that we are spending more than a billion pounds a month on the stuff. Many women look so adorned that they are almost unrecognisable without it. So what happened to the supposedly ideal natural beauty? The cult of the celebrity – that’s what!

The most sought after item is mascara, with women trying to get the ‘false lash’ look with the latest curved, two-ended and comb wands. But not even a wand of the magic variety could get us radiating with Cheryl Cole-esque glamour.

25 to 34 year old women are the worst offenders, carrying an average of 71 pounds worth of cosmetics. 16 to 24 year olds on the other hand carry slightly less with 69 pounds worth. The survey goes on to reveal that over 55′s spend less on cosmetics than the aspiring younger generation.

Do your shoulder a favour, and stop lugging that load to work with you for the quick lunch hour top-up. With the pressure of the recession looming, one positive is that us ladies have the option to potentially pawn our makeup. However, one can only wonder how long it will be before makeup becomes extinct to cosmetic surgery.

Then our handbags will be full of appointment cards, rather than permeated with gloss and glitter.
